![]() ![]() #3 Their fish dishes can make a lasting impression that compels one to come back as soon as possible. #2 Little cocktails can be every bit as satisfying as the bigger cocktails. #1 Don't be closed minded about pork because it might prove to be something that you really enjoy. Thistle taught me a few things during our two visits. I was amazed and frankly, shocked, by the incredibe flavors from this Rockfish dish that I would not have been caught dead eating just a few years ago. The Rockfish dish had pearl couscous that bursts with flavor in the mouth, and the combo of fennel and citrus left my mouth salivating for more. However, I succumbed to the logic that I should partake in moderation and left it at that.Īdditionally, we had the Rockfish entrée both evenings that we visited, which had a few different levels of flavors that taught me a valid and valuable lesson that fish dishes can taste every bit as good as any ol' solid beef dish, and even better. The mustards and pickles complimented the Pork Rillettes in such a way, that I also thought of ordering another simply because the flavors almost left you instantly addicted. I'm not a pork fan at all, but the Pork Rillettes had such incredibly deep flavor. This is one of two dishes that we ordered 2 nights in a row. ![]() My wife had the Pork Rillettes and graciously shared it with me. I thought of just ordering another and not ordering an entrée, but I thought that I should try other foods there, as well. My mouth watered at the foie gras and it was justifiably so. ![]() My wife, who loves rye, also shared in her enjoyment of the Brooklyn #2 both nights that we visited the fine establishment, as well. They were excellent and quite boozy, which we both enjoyed. Well, maybe I had 3 on the second evening, truth be told. It was so good that I had 2 the first night and 2 of the same the 2nd night. We had their cocktail called Brooklyn #2. My wife and I stayed 3 nights in McMinnville and we ate two nights in a row, if that says anything at all about the food.įirst, the cocktails that we had really hit the spot after 2 long days. This is a treasure of a restaurant in McMinnville. Once everyone received a plate we ate without sharing because it was that damn good! We ended up passing on dessert because we were all too full. Our idea was to share everything however, that only lasted as far as the salad. A Walnut and chicken salad, a juicy burger and a rack of pork ribs with mashed potatoes. We took her suggestion and glad we did!įor dinner we ordered 2 orders of cod fish and chips. She suggested 2 plates of oysters because they are so good we will want more than one each. We ordered a few appetizers- onion rings and pan fried oysters. Our waitress, Destiny was very attentive, friendly and helpful. We moseyed over to the bar, order cocktails while we waited. The hostess was welcoming and assured us we would have a table in about 20 min. The place was hopping with no seating available. We showed up at 6 pm which is peak dinner hour in downtown McMinnville. The most recent visit we were a party of 5. I can go any night of the week and expect excellent cocktails and well prepared flavorful food. Now, post pandemic they have remained consistent and delicious. La Rambla definitely gets busy, so I would recommend making a reservation on busy evenings.ĭuring the pandemic they elevated their dinner menu when other establishments were closing or struggling to maintain. They have an extensive wine and port menu and some fun dessert wines/cocktails to try out. I'd recommend leaving the kids at home and making this a date night option as the dishes are pricey (worth it though!) and I don't think I saw a kid's menu. The atmosphere was inviting and the staff was friendly and attentive. We finished off our dinner with yummy churros, though the ganache that came with it was a little too rich for me (this is just personal preference). The crispy pork was perfectly crisp without being overcooked and the flat iron steak was mouthwatering. The paella was on the salty-side, but was definitely flavorful, delicious, and had a full mixed variety of seafood, chicken, and pork. We ordered the house special paella and from the tapas menu, we ordered the crispy pork belly and the coffee dusted grass fed flat iron steak. Delicious! La Rambla was a surprising find during my weekend stay in Oregon. ![]()
